2016 D4 spare wheel security where wheel faces up..advice

Hi all,

Moving over to this site from RRSport.co.uk with the arrival of my 2016 D4 HSE Lux. One week in my possession and I'm pleased so far.

I'm familiar with the theft of the spare wheel by cutting the winch cable and on my old 2005 RRS I had an RLD protector and was never subject to any loss.

My new D4 has the wheel facing up though (due to the Ad blu tank now sitting in about half the upper depth of the spare wheel void)

The spare has a plastic cover which is 'spoked' in effect but that could be easily cut through IMHO. The cable is then massively exposed in a 6cm section and it's easy to get a hand through the alloys (not the diamond cut style) and then it's gone.

Anyone making a protector I can use? I can't see the existing RLD working and the others on EBay don't look like they'll fit.

Any advice gratefully received (and where's the best place to get one of the plastic covers too please).

Get in touch with RLD, he has brought out a new version of the protector for the 2016 model
