Thank-you for your help!
I've phoned another tyre fitter who is more than happy for my business. He did ask me to double check with a LR dealer (you lot are better than that!!). I did explain the whole ATS situation and he thought the same as you.
My tyres will be fitted tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated by a non-technical LR girl!!!

An LR dealer wouldnt help, as 20" alloys were never fitted by LR to the D3, only the FFRR, RRS and D4. Its only us lot that about changing things

Al, I agree but as you know there is an issue with some L322 19's that fit the D4 but not the D3 so wanted to check before I spend!

I just bought these Dare DR-X2 wheels for my D3. Looks badass. I live in Leeds so I just popped round to LK Performance and got a good deal.

Any ideas if these will fit D3 2008 ?
Hi,
Found these wheels / tyres on eBay fitted with Pirelli 255 55 19 tyres.
Says they are from D4 - will they fit my D3 2008 HSE with no problems ?
Many Thanks,
Steve

Hi All,
I'm shopping around trying to find some 19 or 20" alloys and tyres to replace the current standard 19" HSE wheels I've got (which can then go in the garage with AT/winter tyres on.) There's lots of choice but I'm getting a bit out-witted by all of the size vs load rating options, especially as lots of wheel/tyre combo's seem to be from FFRR and RRS that appear to have slightly lesser requirements (I'm guessing due to weight.)
So, quick question or two:
Are Pirelli Scorpion 255/50 20 109Y ok? I don't think so based on the load rating which needs to be 111 minimum I think? These are listed on some websites as ok for the 20" D4 alloys which is confusing me! I understood there were no tyres in 255/20 20 size with the correct rating for a D3 - is this correct?
What about 275/45 20 110WR? I think these may be better (but still not quite there)?
Its a bit clearer if I stick with 19" wheels as there seem to be a lot more 255/55 19 111H/V tyres available, but far fewer wheels in this size!
Any and all suggestions welcome. I'm currently looking at these as an example but nervous of pulling the trigger in case I end up with a set of wheels/tyres that aren't rated enough to be safe:

Actually you've got it pretty much spot on
255/50x20's (109) are OK for the D4, as this is the tyre spec'd by LR for the 20" wheels on the D4, but LR never spec'd a 20" rim and tyre for the D3. So the closest tyre spec to consider is the 19" 255/55x19, weight rated at 111, so ideally, on a D3, you are looking to stick with that weight rating as a minimum. Now if you want 20" rims on your D3, you either have to find a size with that weight rating (as I have in 265/50x20 111W Yokohamas) or above, as some 285/50's and 295/45's are 114 rated, or go for the 20" size thats the closest to a 19" in rolling radius, which is a 275/45x20, but live with the fact thats is fractionally under the weight at 110 (as you wont find a 275/45x20 rated at 111)
make sense?

Hi Al,
Thanks very much for that. Based on what you've said it seems the 275 45 20 110 should be ok and so should any 255 55 19 111.
What I don't understand is if the 255 50 20 109 are ok - if they are fine for the D4 they should be ok for the D3? Or is it simply that as no 20" we're specc'd for the D3, then you are effectively out of spec if you run them?Cheers,
Gareth
