I know it's been discussed before but I couldn't find a definitive answer as to whether its possible to retrofit the Homelink Rear View Mirror on a D4 I became very used to it on my FFRR for our electric gates but with keyless entry and start in the Disco suddenly I found a requirement to remove the keys from my pocket
Anyway I'm pleased to report it can and its a straight swap 8)
Having picked up a bargain brand new mirror with the homelink buttons from our favourite auction site earlier this week for just £40 I swapped them over last night
It only took a couple of minutes to remove the covers, unplug the grey connector, twist the mirror stem clockwise to release and reverse the process!
Just to be sure I cleared the memory of any possible codes that could be stored in the unit and then programmed our gate remote 8) 8)
It would seem there are many part numbers for various Land Rover & Jaguar models but basically any should do as long as your car has the auto dim rear view mirror with the light sensor in the glass itself

I wouldn't give up Russell, you may just have a rolling code and the Homelink site talks you through how to program that. Or maybe the frequency is different and I read somewhere that there is a way to change that too.
Failing that I would give them a call to be sure

Part number for mine is 6H42-17A679-CA and had "Euro" above it which is important for the frequency. If you are looking you may be better searching for "Range Rover" than "Discovery" as there is likely to be more choice

Ajay....................have searched in vain for a new Homelink compatible interior mirror for my 2011 Disco 4. Any clues as to where you found it?
Ok first off eBay is your friend to locate one of these but in most cases they are second hand for around £50 and probably from a L322 FFRR - I guess I just got lucky with a new one.
Second I would suggest don't buy one from The States as they will be programmed to the wrong frequency, unless you can see "Euro" above the part number on the stem.
And thirdly, as a disclaimer, I can only speak for our electric gates which work fine so its definitely a plug and play option with no additional coding or parts required but in Russell's case having a working Homelink rear view mirror doesn't guarantee it will operate a specific device.
You would think it would otherwise why would LR offer it as an option.
Now does anyone want to buy a 12 month old D4 rear view mirror without homelink buttons

Andy have done a lot of research and can find an adaptor to fit and make the Homelink work. However many of the garage door openers do not work with Homlink according to many of the manufacturers. Apparently Homelink want to much money or too many details about the opener to tie most manufacturers into the Homelink service or that's what the garage door makers say......MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

I've fancied a home link mirror for a while so was happy to see this mod by Ajay(uk)
I sourced a mirror with the same part no. and checked mine had the light sensor etc happy days.
Mirror arrived and I removed the plastic mirror trim on my car - then I realised mine has an additional sensor on the mirror stem
The grey wiring connector is the same but more pins are used on my mirror for the additional sensor.
I thought about trying to swap the mirror bodies over but gave it up as a bad job as I couldn't get the mirror front off.
As a result the mirror will be going in the for sale section
