| Partial Workaround for Loud Sat Nav Volume (D4?) |

I've seen lots of questions about how to reduce the rather loud sat nav volume, and I also think the problem is particularly worse when the radio is off and the sat nav is at a ‘default’ volume level rather than following the volume of what you’re listening to (DAB/CD/etc.) …although even then it is arguably still a little loud. We already know that with the radio off, you can use the regular audio volume control to reduce the volumes of prompts, but it only takes effect on that particular voice prompt, and then goes loud again on the following ones.
Just out in the car now, didn’t fancy any music on and so the Sat Nav was at full-on nag volume. What I did was turn the radio on, but then turn it right down to zero/inaudible. As per the logic of the system, the sat nav volume then stayed at ‘nice and gentle’ level consistently, without having to turn it down on every command. It was great and just at that perfect level – well, for me anyway.
Thought this was a handy hint, and I failed to find it in a search so hopefully not a repeat! Apologies if so. I also don't know if this works on D3s too, or only D4s.

You can adjust the sat nav volume vs radio volume just by using the volume control while she's talking  21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Yep but doesn't it go back up again on the next prompt? This is for the particular scenario where you're using the sat nav, radio off, and then by default it's  loud. D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

I do get volume creep over time ...usually by turning her up inadvertently 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Hi we have just figured this out. You have to have the radio on, then press and hold the music note button. You should get a screen which sets the volume level relative to traffic noise/speed. Good luck! Annoyed us for ages on 500 mile trip to Yorkshire and back.

On a MY10 the volume always goes up on the next command, I'm sure on later models it's sorted. I like having the music up on a drive and the sat nav shouts at me and that is with the preset at 1, its lowest setting, it needs minus figures.

Mine is a MY10, it stays as I adjust it when she talks. After adjusting, no changes.

Mine is a MY10. I found that the volume offset is only accessible when the ignition is off altogether, then turning the radio on only, then holding the sound button for a few seconds.
I'm so glad I found it as I was sick to death of being deafened by the satnav.
