Pants down from Hunters Southampton!
SWMBO managed to smash wing mirror unit and glass via overhanging branch on Friday (must have been big I said as case and mirror glass were both wrecked)
A call and trip to Advanced Factors on Saturday found that they only had the LR3 glass mirror replacement in stock so a trip to Hunters Southampton was needed as I was going up to London on Sunday night and really needed the offside mirror.
The price for the mirror glass came to just shy of £60 with VAT - talk about daylight robbery seeing as they are around £30 max online for what look like genuine items.
I just don't know how they can have the cheek to ask for those prices - when I questioned the parts guy he said the other replacements will be inferior and not likely to be heated utter of course - but really put me off the whole main dealer experience.
Tempted to buy another online and take this one back.
Good news is found a bali blue case on ebay for £34 so not all bad.
It's not just LR; I've just spent £50 on one from Audi for an A3.
At least you've got a good deal on the housing; CBA to pay another £50 for the missing bit of plastic.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

You think thats bad, I borrowed my friend 2006 Astra for the day and I managed to destroyed the near side mirror, stopped in at the dealers on the way home and came away £130 lighter, for a bloody stupid textured black plastic housing and a small mirror.

I buy very little - if anything - from Hunters, Nick.
Most of my business is done locally with Advanced Factors and - when they are unable to oblige - Dan at Duckworths is my preferred LR parts supplier now TLO has retired.
In the interests of balance, Hunters did do a reasonable job of cleaning my D3 when it went in for the Q393 towbar recall...

I think manufacturers have us over big time, they know which parts will break and make money, I dropped a camera lens last week, £35 for a plastic ring, fortunately the glass survived
My local is part of Hunters, always found them good, but they know I mod on Freel2
