South Africa 2007 Discovery 3 TDV6 S Auto Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3
Back from Moz

Had wonderful time at Moz - Inhambane area.

Must say after the Defender the D3 is a real on and off roader in terms of space and comfortable drive on tar and then being awesome off-road. On the sand stretch in I did not deflate tyres as I have visited the area before and knew what was waiting - passed a couple of "oriental" vehicles busy deflating their tyres and I could see the " he is going to get stuck" look in their eyes - this never happened - even with off-road trailer.

My brother went down with a 2X4 and got stuck many times - the D3 pulled his vehicle out and along with ease.

Battery system worked 100% - had freezer in trailer on freeze on the way down and while their inside the vehicle on fridge for ice cold beers on the beach. Front recovery hook worked well with protector plate fitted - I was worried that it would be difficult to attach shackle with plate in place - had to recover brothers vehicle a couple of times with front hook.

Had a lot of fun in the thick sand - mostly in normal mode with low range selected and manual gear selection. In one instance when recovering in sand mode, DSC off and low range one of the front wheels kept spinning - surely this should not happen with traction control ??

Trailer is built by Anglo Welding services and used to be sold by Safari 4X4 (under the name Safari). Nothing special other that it is built really strong for off-road conditions.

BTW - fitted seat covers on first day at resort - no hassle, I supervised with beer in hand while the 3 children did the job !!
