cant work out what is wrong so i will start from scratch |
|
sorry this is long winded but you need to know to hope fully help
i bought a disco 3 on a 06 plate 3 weeks ago, its a 2.7td auto with 170,000 on the clock, i paid £7000. and new it would have a few faults i took a friend who is a good mechanic it drove well and all worked ok accept the horn and crusie control, anyway i had to wait to get the car due to private plates being taken off, and needing a new v5
in the mean time my mothering law who was ill ended up in intensive care, so the guy who i was getting the car from very kindly drove the 120 mile round trip to bring me the car and collect my freelander that i traded in to him.
the guy i bought it from is a trader from his house and he said that on the way down the range of fuel left in the tank was fluctuating a bit odd.
over the next few days the fuel range fluctuated between 200 then 150 then 50 then 4 then 200 miles
so i decided to brim the tank. payed switched on ignition fuel gauge shot to empty range red 0 miles so reset mileage car drove fine for the next week and 100 miles
now the real fun starts
my mechanic mate sticks the snapon solaris fault code reader on the car we write down all the faults egr valve, parking senors, there was lots, but dont know when they were last cleared,
so we cleared them and looked to see what come back
egr and parking sensors pop straight up but that was it,
anyway went to start car fuel tank still read empty but the petrol light flashed a few times before coming on solid car drove fine for the next 15 miles then started to run lumpy and finally cut out, stopped car, managed to restarted but it run lumpy above idle,
ecu read low fuel and forced engine shut down car had over half tank of fuel
took the car to a landrover specialist on tues they checked the wiring from tank an all seamed ok so dropped tank and changed fuel sender 1 the easy one.
plus did egr blanking kit and remap car all good,
picked up car drove 20 miles all good stopped to see a mate set of
and 2 minutes later fuel gauge dropped and fuel range slowley dropped from 300+ miles to 0
i have been back to garage an d they will look into it further on monday check wireing looms etc
fuel sender 1 reading 3.9v
fuel sender 2 reading 3.9 v
move cables around under car sender 2 voltage drops to 2,0
any way car still drives ok and need it to as the mother in law is being buried on wed
the landy specialist wants to look at car on Monday any ideas would be good
please please please
help me turn a bad situation good
thanks simon

Is this one of those scenario's where the brake switch causes loads of faults.
That or a hard reset?

OK that's a interesting reply
I haven't used the hand brake as it sticks
I have driven the car on a few trips today with fuel tank on empty and range reading 0
I have done about 55 miles
Twice I Knocked it into sport mode and opened her up, wow she is so good
Could the car have gone into limp mode due to egr

1. you can clean & adjust your EPB as per Bodsys brake bible in the WIKI
2. If your EGRs are blanked then they shouldn't cause you any problems now
3. The reply about the brake switch I believe was referring to the switch in the foot brake, do a search re the brake light switch, its a unit that's easily replaced, not sure if thats your problem though
