So. My EPB failed. Had do pull the emergency release with the strength of 10 men!
Started squealing and barking like a musical dog falling down stairs. This was the second time it had failed in 12 months - first time I had Disco Mikey adjust. However as I had since taken out a Warranty Direct cover I thought I would see if they would cover a replacement repair.
Into Taggarts in Darnley Glasgow who diagnosed EPB Failure and the requirement of a new Park Brake Module... Also discs and pads which wouldn't be claimed under WD.
Taggarts sent down the diagnosis along with a £1000+ cost to replace the Park Brake Module. Next day WD called to say my claim was refused as the part wasn't covered. As you can imagine, I wasn't happy and started research. I saw a other member, AndrewW had successfully claimed EPB failure so I emailed him. He gave me some great advice and I called WD the next day.
The 'jobs worth' I spoke to said that the claim had been rejected and I would now need to complain/appeal in writing which could take up to 28 days. She wasn't for listening. I then asked to speak to a manager. True to her word she had one call within a few hours. The chap I spoke to was brilliant. He was professional, mature and more than anything Reasonable.
In short he accepted that the policy didn't name every component, cars are all different and that the PBM was an originally fitted, non optional component/linkage of the brake system. He approved the claim!
Taggarts did a great job, all I had to pay for was discs and pads which they discounted. As I had £0 excess, I didn't have to pay anything toward the warranty.
£1000+ Cheque arrived the other day
I've certainly had my money's worth from WD with this EPB repair and an alternator repair. Not sure what price they will give me to renew in a few months!
So, FACT Warranty Direct WILL pay out to replace failed Parking Brake Modules as part of the EPB failure.
The only downside was taggarts have me a D4 HSE as a courtesy car for 4 days... This repair could really cost me in the long run!
Hope this helps! Thanks to the forum as always and to AndrewW 2007 XS, Leather Auto - Stornoway Grey

What level of cover is this? I have extracare so would be useful to know.
Timing is impeccable. Currently playing the LR v WD game in my head (and wallet). Quoted Extra Care to date...what cover do you have?

Shed a tear for those of us that have foreign reg vehicles, in Spain I have not been able to find any after market warranties. So once the JLR extended warrant runs out, it's a case of dirty underwear every time you hear a new sound or squeak. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Down and out's Velar
In UK - Dare not say on this Forum
Gone - Lots of Lode Lane vehicles.
