Disco 3 handbrake cable

Can the cables from the handbrake actuator be replaced withe the unit still on the vehicle, just got mine Working again but the o/s cable is just a bit too corroded for me to feel comfortable leaving it- can get a new cable from main dealer for £90 odd quid plus the vat?
