Engine management light

Yellow engine management light lit up on starting yesterday. switched off to reset, no change, still lit.

No error messages on display.
No bongs.
Car runs normal through all gears at all speeds.
No smoke.

Ideas please.

BAS remap & EGR emulator.

Was going to say EGR‘s until I saw your last line!

You need to get the codes read, anybody close to you?

Fault read.......

Recorded an Intermittent fault with the oil temperature sensor.

Level checked, all ok......reset and went off. Will replace if it comes back.

Part not expensive but apparently a mare to get to.

Although, I have never known a faulty temp sensor to bring on the EML. It has always been EGR related

It's has a BAS remap and EGR emulator.
It ran fine for a day.
Yesterday it started fine then was hunting approx 200 revs when cold and the EML came back on.
It doesn't hunt when warm.
Got it booked in for a change and due an oil and filter change as well so get all done together.
Thanks.

the oil temp sensor was the reason mine started hunting. Would not return to idle of about 800 but sat bouncing around 1100/1200 rpm, could stop it by bringing revs down by getting a bit of bite on the clutch

New sensor £31, fitted in 15mins, hunting gone Very Happy

Well.....update.

Oil temperature sensor replace and fault cleared. Was ok on 10 mile drive home.
Next morning, engine management light again.

Faults read, showing EGR fault 'low' on left bank. Whatever that is!!!!

Very sluggish power take up until revs peak about 2,200 then away like the proverbial........

Dynochip remap and EGR's switched off......not BAS as originally posted .(apologies to BAS for the inference)

Any ideas guys?

It's not uncommon for the cheap remaps with the supposed EGR delet function to not actual delete the EGR status properly. That and the 26 other fault codes they can keep deleting, you know, unimportant stuff like low boost pressure, high boost pressure, fuel pressure etc etc etc.
