Goodyear Wrangler HP/All Weather difference |
|
Anyone know the difference between the Goodyear Wrangler HP and the Goodyear Wrangler HP All Weather?
Is it worth paying the extra money for the All Weather version?

About £9 according to Event Mobile Tyres:
Goodyear - 255/60 R18 [112H] - Wrangler HP [Extra Load] £ 133.95
Goodyear - 255/60 R18 [112V] - Wrangler HP All Weather [Extra Load] £ 142.18
Not much in it. But I can't find any info on what the actual difference is between the two e.g. the All Weather version is better off-road...

If there's nothing on the Goodyear website presumably the vendor can tell you the difference and if it's worth the bit extra The End

and one is H rated, the other V rated, so a higher speed rating.

They have slightly different traction and wear ratings, the all weather has the better figures
Wrangler HP UTQG 340 AB
Wrangler HP All weather UTQG 440 AA
Plus the all weather weighs slightly more and comes with a slightly shallower tread depth (probaly the V rating ?).
(The above is for 18" BTW).

The H rated is not availble in the U.S., and hasn't been for some time. When they were available and either H or V came on the cars, I felt that the H had better off-road traction due to the tread design. Problem was, those same lug type tread blocks combined with the wear we were seeing made them wear extremely odd and very quickly. Not that the V doesn't wear either, but when the H wore due to the crap alignments, they were a lot noisier and easier to see.
Long term wear, can't compare because we burned them all up w/ crap alignments. I've seem them go into the 30's on Discovery II tho.
If the alignments was right, and I had a choice, and off-road was one of my high catagories, and I had to pick this tire, I'd go w/ the H. If it is highay w/ very occasional off-road, V.
