I was trying to bid using Vodafone/3g as the web-nazis won't allow ebay except in the "social" areas. Over 1000 staff, 3 pcs with ebay and morons sat there with a packet of crisps for their entire lunch hour reading football scores while I seethe and rant behind them.
Had entered £217 with about 15 seconds to spare but the vodafone interface fell over
I could have picked them up this evening, their only an hour from my place I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

ND , Photothames had a set of 5 on ebay a few weeks ago with a BIN of 210 ISTR , did you see them ?
Good point Discowex, and I'm up that way tomorrow evening or Thursday afternoon. Can you remember if they were new though? The one's I've just missed were brand-spanking new.
Simon, would love to work from home more than I do (and the work is such that it can be done remotely), but my client seems to derive enormous pleasure from making me commute so everyone can glare at me across the office and exclude me from trips to the pub. Such is the life of a contractor (or Satan as I believe we are sometimes known) doing what is essentially a perm roleI know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Quote:
5 x 17†Land Rover Discovery 3 Alloy Wheels & Tyres
All are fitted with Goodyear Wrangler M+S 235/70R17 111H Tyres.
A set of wheels and tyres which are used and have some marks and small scratches as expected with used wheels.
The tyres have an average of 5mm of tread ONE tyre does have a puncture (looks like a screw on the shoulder) but the other four are good.
Prefer these to be collected from either Shepperton, Middlesex or Camberley, Surrey but delivery could be arranged at extra cost.
Happy Bidding
Starting bid was 200 , 0 bids but Im sure I saw a BIN of 210 on them , best of luck

we are very nice to contractors here: they buy all the drinks and are much better at cakes than the staff
that way we don't complain about them turning up for work in helicopters so much
I do the cakes and drinks thing but they seem to dislike me turning up in my D3 as opposed to some mundane piece of "transport" with a griffin or a blue oval on the front. So much so that on the one occassion they let me in to the car park (as opposed to having to pay to park half a mile away then walk in) my car was comprehensively keyed.
I don't think it helps that a few years back I was an employee here and am seen by some to have risen above my station. On more than one occassion I've found myself in charge of former managers, which was nice.....
As regards the other wheels DW, what attracted me to these ones was that they were brand new, pretty much on my doorstep and cheapness itself. 20000 miles of tyre use for £200? How rude! I'll keep my eyes on other new or nearly-new ones though I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

no comment on the wheels.....
but anyone can become a contractor..........
good job that doesn't happen here as it is a fairly small world and people regularly flit between contract and staff posts...............plus it is quite esay for staff to be out numbered by contractors both in the car park and at desks!!....job security + share options (well relative anyway) or cash (currently about three times for the same job)?
one day...... end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......
