Well said , I learned my trade ( well not anymore ) on a V.old Pentax S.V and progressed slowly from there. My brother has more or less got all my old kit now and uses it well.Dont get me wrong , Im not one of the puritan lot who despise all the new digital gear but Im damn glad of the basic bits that I used.It taught me alot about understanding , using & manipulating light which is the foundation of good photography.
The best of luck CY and I hope you pursue this as a career.
BTW , Im not faulting you on wishing to have a decent camera

I've set a price limit of this camera purchase at £500. I'll perhaps nudge over that though for added accessories such as a carry case etc.
I'm looking to get the camera within the next week and a half (to take with me Florence and various Italian towns).
I've also accepted that no matter what camera I buy, it will soon be outdated, and I may stick with Nikon as we already have one and so the lenses will be interchangable. Please do let me know if anybody has any recommendations within that spec.
Might go shopping for one today - will keep you posted. 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

D70 is great... D80 according to the reviews I've read is very very good.
£500 will be a bit tight though to get one with a lens (very useful is a lens).... but it will last you many years !
I think body only is around £500.
If you have lenses already, double check that they are DSLR compatible 1st

Thanks simon.
Well, in town at the moment and have just bought a Nikon D80 plus an 18-70mm lens. Came in at just under £700 including the lens and accessories. Very excited indeed - looking forward to playing later! (will work out the money later... ) 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

My D70 has been 100% reliable, battery lasts ages and I wouldn't hesitate in replacing with another so I'm sure you'll be pleased with it. Darren Griffin

Thanks C Y,
Most were taken on my Canon 400D,the last few on my new Canon 40D.
I do consider myself lucky in that I live in a place were there seems to be a good photo opportunity round every corner.

Don't have a Flickr page, but (once I've knocked off a few things from my workload ) I'm hoping to go out and find somewhere photogenic to catch up on my latest photography workshop, which I am three weeks behind on.. 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7
