Had fantastic service from Admiral for many years now but just phoned them to ask about insuring me for the West Country Land Rover Experience I'm doing in a couple of weeks and they won't.
What's more, they're telling me that I haven't advised them of my change of address (I moved in Nov 2014) even though every time you call them, they request your postcode during security...and according to their records I have called them five times since February 2014!!!!! They now want to back date the premium to November 2014!!!!
Anyway, with that rant over, I need to either cancel the policy and go with an insurer that will cover me for non-competitive off-road trips on private land, or find an insurer that will cover me for the experience on a short-term policy.
I've tried A-Plan before and they have been considerably more expensive than Admiral (like several hundred pounds more!). So any recommendations?

Adrian Flux, not sure how they can backdate the premiums. Also if they asked for postcode for security, how did it match ?
Twice I've informed them of my change of address. I know I did because I moved three times in 15 months about 4.5 years ago so the nerd in me has a document with tick boxes advising me of all the companies I should advise of a change of address. I also just argued this case with them that if I have to give them my postcode for security every time I phone them, surely we would have had this convo every time I phone!!!!
Anyway, will give Adrian Flux a try. Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! Member of Gloucestershire & Worcestershire 4x4 Response.

I too am insured with Admiral. I will be interested in the answer to this. I have a Trek day booked in Sept and on my to do list was call them about insurance. Won't bother, but keen to find out if you find an alternative insurance just to cover the day.MY2012 D4 HSE Nara Bronze with some extra stuff
I don't think you'll find event cover because, if I'm not mistaken, can a car only be insured by one insurer?Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! Try Reis, we use them for mud master, a competitive event, it's £25 for weekend although that may be a club discount.
Another thought is if it's private property then do you need insurance, if it's not is it a green lane which technically is a road.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

I read the blurb from LRE West Country (guided, non-competitive off-road trip on privately-owned estate land, under complete supervision) to the call handler at Admiral and they categorically said no to insuring me.
Will give the guys above a call.

Land Rover insurance and I have found them to be fairly competative, yes a little more pricey but they do give off road cover and do put new panels on. Also those who have been unfortunate to have had to claim have always got on fineMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

We use Reis to top up the cover, and still use normal insurance the rest of the yearJoined the BMWX5 45e group

Excellent advice guys. Have a form to complete for Reis and will try LR and NFU insurance tomorrow. I'm with Adrian Flux, and they cover me for off roading. Funny thing was I called NFU, and they said they do not do off road insurance, so would not cover me. I just gave up with them.

If you aren't off reading a lot I would give them another chance to get it right. With admiral my D4 was cheaper to insure than SWMBOs 1.4 golf and considerably cheaper than anywhere else I could find, and to upgrade to new D4 it was only £35 more for 7 months.

Move from Admiral, you and me both, been with them three years, renewal due in a couple of months, it has gone up every year since I've been with them, now paying more than double what I paid in the first year, despite two named drivers having been on SAC's costing me £100 for the pleasure, they expired 18 months ago, yet it still went up by £250, less the SAC's equals £350 increase last year, no claims except for a Screen which was a nightmare and ended up buying a pair of A Pillar Covers as they took flight three days after fitting the screen.

Fully comp with protected no claims I am £160 a year, and I'm not over the hill just yet...... They also just replaced my screen with a LR branded item. Not sure you can blame the pillar covers on admiral either???
I do find I seem to swap between admiral and Privilige to get best quotesJoined the BMWX5 45e group
