MY15 1st service - oil 'weep' |
|
Had our D4 in for its first service last week and the technician has noted during the visual health check the following "minor weep of oil present on upper part of engine sump. Observe next service if weep has returned".
This is not something I would expect to find on a 1yr old vehicle that has done 9k miles. Anyone else had this or know what issue I might have, if anything?
No pics I'm afraid, but next time i have the vehicle up on the axle stands I will take a look. MY15 D4 SDV6 HSE Corris Grey - Gone

The techie has made a ridiculous comment. Does he really think waiting a year with no further examinations is the way ahead. He should have cleaned the area and you should be booked back in fairly soon to see If the weep has returned.
I would not be listening to the dealer I would be telling him what was going to happen. FFRR Westminster TDV8

I would not accept that. If any amount oil is escaping from a <1 yr old engine something is not right technically, it can't be down to age or wear and tear.

I had this sometime after the first service when the car was examined for an unrelated concern. QC Tech found slight oil weep. New sump and gasket fitted immediately. No further problem. Tech did say that he had seen this before.

Received. It's going back in for a TSB matter (seatbelt adjuster rattle) in July so will have them inspect it further then. Ta. MY15 D4 SDV6 HSE Corris Grey - Gone

Just looking at your location. Your main Dealer wouldn't be Harwoods by any chance?

Personally don't rate this group all. Perhaps you should look to take it to another Dealership.

Sorry - bit of a hi-jack here....
Do you have a TSB number for this seat belt adjuster rattle please? I still get a 'ticking noise' when the weather is warm (at least 18 degrees c) or are you referring to TSB LTB00872 of 18 NOV 2015.
This TSB was allegedly carried out on mine some months ago but I've got my doubts!! I understand it involves welding and paintwork and when others have had this done they report the smell of new paint - which I never had - and crucially for me.... it involves the car going on a low loader to Devon somewhere as my dealer does not have a body shop FFS!! - away for a week or more!!
Lesson here.... for me .... make sure the dealer has a body shop!! (should have used Plymouth dealership to purchase from) 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

Russell that was my initial thoughts but there is no write up in the service paperwork listing what was done or what, if any parts were fitted to sort it. So, for me, knowing Harwoods like I do, the technician would have probably just wiped it clean.
Dannyson, the bulletin for the seatbelt adjuster is under TSB LTB00872 of 18th November 2015. I've been advised that they need the car for approximately 2 weeks as it needs to go into the bodyshop (so painting is clearly going to happen). TBH my head is filling with all sorts of nightmare scenarios at the thought of letting them loose on the car. I might give Guava / Hunters Guildford a bell. MY15 D4 SDV6 HSE Corris Grey - Gone

You could try Guy Salmon at Thames Ditton as it is only little further up the road. They have looked after my Jags and LR's perfectly.
