Rudland Rigg Recently?

Was up there at the weekend, came in from the Ingleby Greenhow end got up to the last straight section before curving left to the steps and encountered a washed out section;

Decided not to tackle it as this was lying at the scene;

Also was flying solo with only the kids to assist so just turned back.
Anyone being along there the past week or two and made it?

Haven't been up there for a while. However, I can't make out what you photographed that was black in the mud. Any clues?

That's a front tow eye cover - that you'd normally replace with a Mantec/RLD front plate if going off road.
Also looks like the front 'anti-spray' spats are there too.

Went up there on Sunday. It was awesome. A group of four cars went, G4 defender, Nissan patrol, my D3 and an Isuzu pickup. All got up the steps fine except the Isuzu who only had road tyres and no added lift. It was also brand new and had already had one of the side steps ripped off and he did not want to risk any more damage. My first time up there and I was convinced the d3 would struggle given the G4 had a number of times when it lost grip. D3 shot up though in low and rock crawl. I also aired down the grabbers from 42psi to 28. This route plus the others showed me just how capable the D3 is off road. a great weekend doing the lanes in Yorkshire. Pyrenees with the G4 and another D3 in September :
Thumbs Up
We also saw the plastic trim in the rut. definately not one to do on your own. Thumbs Up

Less hassle and risk of damage to vehicle and the environment driven south to north. No just because of the rocky section but as you point out the wash outs are getting a bit worse for ware.

Can be a bit like the M1 at times with mtbs, trailriders, walkers and 4x4's plus they are doing a lot of work on the southern end. I my opinion almost half the way up turn right head over to the Lion Inn at Blakey Ridge and chill Whistle

Was also talking to a ranger and they are aware of some off piste activity and taking appropriate action in partnership with the land owners.

Good stuff, I'll be giving it a try next time I'm out and about then now I know another D3 has traversed that spot, maybe take a friend though . . . have to get one of those first.

Ron the video was back in 2014 Shocked
It can be a bit busy at times and my ethos to greenlaning is that if you want a challenge go to a pay and play site. End of! However if you want to enjoy your 4x4,the country side and a bit of a social interactions greenlaning ticks a significant number of boxes.

The security guy even asked if anyone needed to use the porta loo Thumbs Up

That video makes it look easy. I was dreading driving up it and felt much better for having a sump guard and rock ' tree sliders. Although I expected to get them dinged, which did not happen. As GSLro points out, it is much more washed out than that video shows now. Nice area further on at the cross roads for a picnic and brew whilst you take in the local views which are stunning.

We also took that time to air the tyres back up, but one of the group nearly blew his tyres off by forgetting he put the compressor on. Got his tyres to 62psi before remembering and shouting 'oh god' and running to turn the compressor off. My fault for distracting him with a brew Thumbs Up
