Off Road Cover

Good Morning,

We have had many enquiries regarding off road and organised event cover.

I am delighted to confirm we can offer cover whilst your vehicle is being used in an event organised by BORDA, a vehicle manufacturer, a recognised 4x4 off road club or an off road organisation.

Our Specialist vehicle centre in Thatcham have the specialist cover and experienced staff relevant to this forum to ensure you get the club discounts and policy benefits as promised. These facilities are bespoke and therefore not available elsewhere.

Make sure you mention this forum when you get the quotation.

Give us a call on 01635 874646 or click the link in my signature and we will call you back.

Thanks

Clare

I'm confused. I moved my insurance to A-Plan because off-road cover was included. Does this mean that now it isn't and I've been uninsured?

Thanks Clare.

I have just rung for a quote, advised that this would be as part of an annual policy rather than a one off day cover - may save some people making a call if they thought (as I did) that this was a one day type policy.

I needed a renewal quote anyway - so wasn't a wasted call for me Smile

There is a technical difference between "off road" cover and "off road" cover for events

Most insurers cover green lanes - i.e. legal rights of way that missing tarmac, although worth double checking as some don't.

However, nearly all explicitly exclude 4x4 events, competitions and racing....

It's always a little unclear what an event really means Question Question

Hi guys,

In answer to your questions:

The cover is provided as part of an annual policy, it is not available as a stand alone one day cover.

The cover is for organised events, such as a Landrover Experience day.

Cover is for non competitive events, racing or timed events are excluded.

If you have any other questions please feel free to give me a call on 01635 874646.

Thanks

Clare

This looks interesting, my renewal is due next week.

I already deal with several of your other offices for various policies, so I will ask them. Although when I spoke to them last year (and your office) no one knew anything about the Discovery Forum, so just renewed as normal.

Can you PM me your details and the branch you use and I will have a look into it for you.

Thanks

We recognise this forum as a 4x4 club, if the forum were to hold an event it would be covered under the policy.

If a meet is arranged through the forum, as members getting together, this would not be recognised as a 4x4 club meet. Although if you are only greenlaning together and are still on public highways this would be covered under a different section of the policy.

If you get together as a group of members and go to an organised club event this would be covered.

Please feel free to give us a call on 01635 874646 if you need anymore information.

is this wording clearly stated in a policy document or schedule or is it only mentioned in a covering letter from A plan

It depends on the insurer, we are a broker and have more than one company that offers the cover.

insurance policies normally mention everything under the sun...so when it comes to the important bit about whats covered I don't understand why that is not clearly stated in the policy/schedule wording..and we have to rely on a covering letter from the broker...as for organised events ..would that not infer that the organiser would need public liability cover and have done a risk assessment for the said event..........
