Replacement front to back air con hoses
Hi, my aircon is leaking 2007 D3 and I need to replace the 2 centre section hoses that go from front to back. I have heard there are flexible hoses available, are they better/cheaper option than original Land Rover parts and can the hoses be replaced without removing the air cylinder for the suspension? Thanks in advance

Flexible plastic hosing is an option. I’d get in contact with a few vehicle ac companies, some are mobile.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Thanks, already have a mobile A/C guy who found the leak, he has suggested I look on a forum for the best solution. Seems that it is a fairly common problem as he has heard of it happening. The pipe is aluminium with a steel connection so getting corrosion is inevitable over time. To try to save a bit of cash want to consider aftermarket options

I know a forum member had the rear ac pipes on his D3 replaced by flexi plastic ones. A mobile specialist did the work.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Hiya,
Where’s the steel connector ? I changed all the o rings on mine but the pipes were fine. Just leaking on 2 of the o ring joints. They were aluminium blocks welded to the pipes and bolted together.

If its the common part that fails, that runs along the inner sill, its about 170 quid from Landroverist actually two pipes sold as one unit.
Pretty certain as said above the whole thing is alloy.
Whatever you do the long term cure is to spary all the joints and bare pipework with aerosol chain lubricant, its sticks like you know what to a blanket and stops any corrosion from getting worse.

I doubt it as the demand has to be pretty small as most go for the bypass mod as its cheaper (60 quid Iirc), but to me rear a/c makes the car what it is, especially if you have dogs/kids etc.

I do have a dog so would prefer to have a/c in the back. Presumably the only way to find out if needs either new pipes or is just an O ring replacement is to take it apart. Problem is just had to spend £450 having new condenser fitted 2 months ago, now this, starting to think is it worth it?

There's no LR alternative. You either fit the same again from LR or have a specialist replace them with aftermarket pipes, plastic being an option.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

My condenser was shot also. I had the body off mine so inspected them front to back and found the pipes to be ok just leaking at the 2 positions shown in the above pics. I know people have had problems with corrosion between the foam insulation and the aluminium pipes. The problem is access. I think the side pipes would be ok to access with the air tank off, I’m not sure about the rear ones. I think there’s about 7 pairs of joins in the system. I was determined to keep them as I also have a dog and like the thought that he can stay cool in hot weather while traveling.
I didn’t realise till I had the body off that there’s water lines running the drivers side also. Wonder if people have leaking issues with those ?Jarrod

I found the leak on mine by pressurising the system with nitrogen at about 6 bar and got the squirty bottle out with soapy water, it actually took some finding, in the end it was the pipe right next to the joint under the back side rear door, tiny leak and the system still held a good vac and the a/c would work ok for about 2 weeks then die.
New pipe and its been fine and that must be over 3 years ago now
Iirc I had to take the compressed air tank out to fit the pipes?
It is an easyish diy job and if you screw it up the car can still be driven to the garage!
