It seems I'm unable to access the Beta uploader with Firefox. I've now successfully used Chrome instead, but with Firefox I just get "Your browser doesn't have Flash, Silverlight, Gears, BrowserPlus or HTML5 support. Use the classic upload page."

Firefox should be able to use the HTML5 uploader even if every other plugin is not installed.
Actually, HTML5 should be the default now
What version of Firefox are you running? I've just tried it with FF 49.0.1 on Win10 and the HTML5 uploader is loaded fine 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
