| removing seized rear caliper |

the RR brake caliper piston is stuck. I cannot push it back in when changing pads.
I understand I need to replace the caliper, and I plan to do this for the rears in a few weeks time, when I also replace the rotors.
But I want to see if I can recondition the caliper in the mean time, and free it up. this is not a perm fix, just to get me back on the road for an hour this weekend
So, with that being said, what's the procedure for removing the caliper without getting air into the system? I've watched a few videos but they dont talk about the potential issue of getting air in when I remove the old caliper for a couple of hours.
I understand, doing this is going to 'burn' a set of pads and fluid when I bleed the system, as I will be having to replace the pads and bleed the system again when I do the rotor and caliper change. But I have some pads already so I dont mind that for a one off local errand I have to do.

Clamp the Flexi hose with a set of hose clamps or a G clamp used carefully.
I did all four that way with minimal loss I see no ships........

Last week I removed a rear caliper that was sticking. To reduce the fluid leak I used a pair of mole grips to compress the flexible hose. I used an old piece of rubber hose slit length ways to reduce the potential of damaging the flexible hose. I was surprised how little bleeding was required. With SWMBOs help I did it the old fashioned way and only required a few pumps to get a constant flow.
My caliper had a poor fitting dust seal. I was able to remove the piston and clean it, reseat the dust seal in the caliper and push the piston back in. It is no longer sticking, but I will ask the garage to check it when serviced at the end of the month.

IME if a caliper starts sticking, even if you free it up it'll start sticking again before long. They need a proper rebuild or replacement.

If you can't push the caliper back the problem could be the flexi pipes change both pipes as they can degrade and act like a one way valve, so your brake stays on and you can't push piston back.
