Tamshoe's North Yorkshire Moors Escapades
After buying my maps and spending a bit of time on the internet looking for places to go I thought I'd keep a bit of dairy with pictures to help people get out there themselves or just have some pictures to look at because who doesn't like pictures.

Wandered by this BOAT whilst I was out and about near Moorsholm,

go past the roundabout where the bus stop is and turn left and down past this house;

The first two thirds are just like this;

But the last third disappears through this;

If you go from Moorsholm down the way you come out on the moor road (for the locals that know) and visibility isn't that great, you'll be better off going straight over and then turning round as is safer.

Moorsholm Round 2
Decided to have a go from the other end today;

Get about 80 feet up and the ruts get pretty deep so you're scraping the underside a good bit and someone had dumped some big ole rocks in the way to, looks like someone is trying to deter people from travelling through. Had to reverse back as only have road tyres, didn't want to get beached.

Had a little pop over the moors today.
Took in Dandy Beacon.

Followed by this one.

There's a good bit of vegetation trying to jump through the car window at the moment, but fun as long as you don't mind the possibility of a little scratch or two.

Re: Moorsholm Round 2
There are some great lanes around that area

If that track is legal and not TRO'd it needs reporting if somebody has blocked it Cheers Ian

Took a left after the first ford near Lealholmside today. The second ford is a bit wider and a good bit deeper, water was up to the head lights almost at the far side of the crossing.

As long as your don't mind the trees rubbing against your car it's a good lane

This is where you come out.

Start at the farm end coming in from Lealholmside if you prefer travelling up hill.
Here you can see the marks, the majority of them rub off with a finger, I wouldn't travel it if you're worried about scratches mind.

Glaisdale
A couple of pics from the most recent jaunt out over the moors, Glaisdale;

With the deep ruts and being narrow in a couple of spots the side steps took a knock or two.

Was enjoyable, just near the train station at Glaisdale over a tiny ford crossing.

Glaisdale Rigg over the weekend, very similar to Danby Beacon for anyone that has been up that way. Looking at a couple of videos on youtube before hand they've filled in a the deep spots that used to be present, so it's a straight forward route, nothing that would cause a disco any trouble at all but the scenery is great.

Top thread Tamshoe
Is Glaisdale Rigg also known as "The Old Whitby Road"? I recently bought a D3 and took my first greenlaning steps up there, beautiful scenery and an easy route for anyone going solo. Got a couple of pics on my iPhone, need to work out how to save them onto my laptop.
Was going to have a look up Rutland Rigg last weekend but couldn't make it, hoping to head up there a week on Saturday or Sunday.
Where in the NE are you from Tamshoe?

I think it might well the same road MJD 3. I'm not far from you dude, only through in Middlesbrough.
Funnily enough I had a pop up Rudland Rigg today, got two thirds of the way up the steps section, didn't have enough faith in my 8 year old spotter I'd sent out to scope the route for me.
