Thinking of selling

Discovery 3 TDV6 S

2005 55 plate with a smidge under 14,000 miles

Bonatti Grey, dark cloth seats, heavy duty rubber mats, boot liner, detachable tow bar and electrics.

Runs beautifully and has just had its 2 year service and still has 1 years manufacturers warranty.

Might even throw in the Thule 2 bike carrier.

The bad bits: Every door has been heavily keyed as well as on the bonnet and rear panels. This happened last November so it has seen a lot of rain and road salt with no adverse effects thus the metal is still protected. Also the offside rear door has a dent about a foot across.

Non of this has bothered me as its a Land Rover but owning one of these in London is starting to get hyper expensive so I would like it to relocate to the country where it can have some fun.

Let me know what you guys think I could sell it for, cheers.

TBH I can't see anyone buying it in that state unless it is really cheap, it is going to cost a fair bit to repair or will involve an insurance claim. Puzzled why you haven't had it done under your insurance but i am guessing you have a large excess?

Price wise I reckon about £17-18k not repaired, £20k if restored to 'as new'. I bought my 55 plate S for just over £20k from Guy Salmon last May.

Blimey! from a dealer thats a good price. Thats a car that has dropped 12K in less than 2 years. Lord knows how little they paid the poor sod that had it before you.

Good for you tho'

BTW it was keyed twice. First time people said " are you not going to repair it" and I said that I did not see the point as it will only happen again and three weeks later it did.

I could repair it now but then run the risk of it getting damaged before it is sold. Basically those ECO Censored are forcing me to keep it Rolling with laughter

really there are 2 groups of buyers

the 'london mums taxi' types who are only interested in image so keyed or not, it needs leather/privacy etc etc

and secondly, enthusiasts like us....again, the cost of fixing the keyings is going to be prohibitive and the spec level indicates selling would be easy if cheap enough....

whatever, this is going to cost £££££££££££

My advice is work out the ownership cost over the next couple of years and compare that to how much it would cost to move on (Be realistic with what you could get for it in its current state (((16+£k))) Rolling Eyes )

A quick think would prove that it will be much cheaper to keep it (not to mention, much more fun)....after all, what are you planning on getting instead.........a used smart car will cost peanuts to run and is so easy to park etc...why not use that for the city and keep the D3 for fun....A proper bodyshop fix for your D3 would probably cost as much as a cheapo smart and (from experience) smart cars are loads of fun too (in their own way)

just my tuppence worth

The Doctor is right and as I have just shelled out nearly a grand for a service and new pads, I might as well go on another year and the car is so damn perfect for the family........apart from the fuel cost. Ooops new tyres needed soon what are they a pop. £150 each?

You may be better off buying a set of wheels with tyres off of e-bay and then selling the wheels only afterwards.

that's the way I'll be going next time.
