Door handles - tinting
i had the horrible plastic covers on my door handles and removed them
been trying to get the double sticky pads off
was thinking of taking the handles off, rubbing them down and spraying them black
would it be better to put a plastic primer on them first then a matt black
wondering if to take them off and do it, but not sure how easy it is to get them off, or leave them on and cover everything , not sure i would get a very good finish if i used a brush
plus on the back doors they were tinted with film removed them as they were really dark
trouble is i'm trying to get the glue off, christ knows what glue it is but blimey it sticks
have tried white spirit , washing up liquid , used some nail varnish remover, dont worry isn't mine
any ideas please

you can do them on the car, may be easier to do so,

i'm thinking the same regarding leaving them on, knowing me i would break something :lol
know it's too cold at the moment ,
what is ur opinion please, as i thought about buying the small model spray kits , as i could control it better and not having such a large spray fan area from a can, if that makes sense
as they have a very small bottle would be ideal as it wouldn't take too much to spray all four handles
I've done a fair bit of rattle can spraying through motorbikes I've built over the years .
Take them off , plastic primer, I would use satin black as matt tends to loose its finish very quickly
Just make sure you give the plastic a rub to key the primer.
old pan scouring pad/ sponge is good on plastic, you don't have to go mad.
if you want longevity make sure you liquor after final coat ,its pretty easy as long as you do it in a nice warm environment bud

thks ref the handles, what do u think of these model sprayers please
just thought it may be ideal to do these and there so cheap these days
My son uses them quite a lot to paint warhammer models , bloody good at it to boot
he seems to be always buying one every few weeks so that tells a tale , ill ask him later on the quality of them,
some don't like " car type" paint through them as it fubars the seals fast

wondered what u thought and don't know if it would be worth buying one of the model kits or maybe getting something bigger, would be more versatile , having a larger air compressor , using it to blast out junk from the chassis for example prior to painting it , could use it for so many things , etc
seen one that's 24 litre think it's 10cfm , even better can run an airgun off it for the wheel nuts and also things like the lower wish bone nuts , ideal with a bad back
just trying to think practically , always go into things, is it going to be useful, what can i use it for,
seen some on machine mart but wouldn't have a clue, size wise, cfm etc , know my kids always nag me every year in what to buy me, think a larger one may be really useful , seeing i've now got the d3 , having larger parts etc

Just researched a compressor to buy myself. I would go for a high cfm 14 at least a small compressor will struggle to supply air for a quality airgun.In the end I got this nothing has beat it so far
Wishbone nuts ain't the problem it's the bolts that are hard to get out usually a reciprocating saw or 9" grinder needed. Andy

heard those dewalt impact drivers are very good
thks ref the cfm rating
saw a video on utube about changing the wishbones and he took out a 9inch angle grinder, then used an air hammer to push the bolts out
something i wouldn't fancy doing on my driveway , it's if u come up against something and haven't got big enough tools to get them out

This is the compressor i was going to get,and if needed a great parts supply available not saying it's the best but I researched loads and was happy with this one.

For the sticky stuff just shop for 'sticky stuff remover' Halfrauds sell it for £4.50
Great stuff and literally does what it says on the tin
Have you thought of contacting Metal Monster Junk for the handles as sure they have loads spare D4 Front upgrade/cut back wings n things 'taking a long time but getting there'.
D4 rear upgrade - Narpys helped with that bit
Flack for problem solving and D4 Bluetooth Install/ D4 Heated Steering wheel with Flappy paddles n BBS enabling kit
Disco Mikeys work - Serviced, EGR blanking and 4x4 software upgrade, 3 flash indicators.
B.A.S - FBHIC. Uncle Rays spare wheel protector. Beanie Silver Black badges.

i looked all round halfords the other day and even asked someone , doh, thks will have a look online then print out a picture to take in with me ,
have sent metal monster a few messages but they haven't got back to me yet , assume they must be busy
