Depreciation and running costs |
|
Just the way it worked out on my last MY12 D4 which I bought from a dealer at one year old. I owned it for a smidge under 4years, the depreciation was about £4400 per annum and the running costs an average of £6000 for 23k miles overall which works out as a total cost of £1.77 per mile. .

Crikey. I find it best to use the ostrich head in the sand method of looking at the Disco's running costs.

Don't forget I did very low mileage - redoing the calulation of the basis I did 64,000 miles in those 4 years the cost per mile comes down to £1.31per mile .

JUst did some back of envelope sums on my D3 - covered 140k in 4 years, car has depreciated by about £12k in that time based on WBAC valuation
Accepting that LR warranty covered over £15k of repairs/replacements, cost to me works out at around 40p per mile to include fuel, insurance, tax and servicing as well as depreciation. Quite happy with that to be honest
Even without the warranty contribution the cost is stll close to 70p per mile and that includes the major expense of a new gearbox supplied and fitted by LR Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE
