door seal torn on new car part 1 |
|
Here is part 1 of the story.
I bought a new D3 and on picking it up from dealer during the inspection noted that the front passenger door seal had a 3-4cm 'V' shaped tear in it at eye level. The saleman said it would be replaced at first service.
Booking the car in for it's first service a month ago I specifically mentioned this replacement seal so they could order it in ready.
On re-confirming the service time and date y/day (service is tomorrow 25/10) I enquired if they had the part. Reception put me through to service reception who then put me through to sales. Sales told me that service had to inspect the part first and determine that it was a warrenty issue and order the part! NOW, correct me if I am wrong, BUT is this not an about way of doing things?? WHY, could they not have got service department to look at it on the day I picked the car up?? Why could they not have told me this is how it is done when I booked it in and asked about the replacement??
I FULLY expect that the service department will confirm that a replacement is required and will order one (I am assuming that they don't have one in stock?) and I will have to drive back 1 hour 45 minutes each way to have it replaced at some stage in the future!!
Part 2 will be letting you all know the outcome from tommorrow ...which I am approaching with not a little trepidation!
PS: I am printing this off to take with me. regards
Peter

Pbhawkin,
IMO the Salesman should be able to tell the Service Dept that the part was damaged before delivery and they need to replace it FOC for you. I'm sure if you knew the result to get this fixed you would have rejected delivery. If the Dealer needs to pay for it because they damaged it then that is not your problem either.
There should not be a need to inspect before a decision is made in this cse - this is extremely poor CS.

Not good enough, the part should be there the delay is their fault they should courier new ASAP. Forget the trepidation, You are the customer after all.
