Hi everyone!
Has anyone toured TZ or Kenya? I need to know if the diesel will be ok for my tdv6 and mates RRS TdV8? Please let me know as everything is planned but nobody thought of this.....I think the lowest available sulphur is 5000ppm (0.5%). Will this be ok?
Thanks for the help.

I'm not an expert on the sulphur contents, but guess it is more the quality that matters - ie dirt, water, paraffin, etc. in the diesel. I believe the only real problem running on high sulphur content is the lifespan of catalitic converter
I had an experience where diesel filter on my then 6000km old D3 got clogged due to dirty diesel I had taken in at a small fuel station in Botswana. This caused the engine to go into limp mode as soon as revs went over 3000rpm
Heine is busy ordering testing kits and filters which we will take with us on extended trips like yours and I will definitely take along a spare fuel filter as well (just make sure you take the correct filter for your specific model).
Maybe a good idea to check with him if you can order some for you. When are you going and for how long ??

Thanks for the info!
I'm thinking of going mid November, it will be a long trip but is something we've wanted to do for some time. We also hope to watch parts of the classic safari rally being held aroung then.
Hopefully the cars behave!

From the manual (2006/2007) :
"In markets where the sulphur content exceeds
0.3%, more frequent engine oil and filter
changes will be required."

Thanks man!
I see some places have up to 10000ppm.....luckily i don't plan on going there. I think i'll carry spare filters and should be ok.
Cheers,
