Touring Europe annual travel insurance |
|
I am just looking for a little guidance on annual travel insurance. My wife and myself are doing a bit of touring in the summer though Europe and also my wife is going to Spain on Friday to visit her parents. What i am looking for is cover for these trips and also when i do the Northern 500 later this year plus other weekend camping trips in Britain. Am I asking too much or does that type of insurance exsist ? Thanks in advance The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

Some annual travel policies only provide cover where all named persons travel together and not while travelling individually.
If cover for UK trips is included then you need to ensure a camping trip would be covered rather than trips with hotel accommodation. Often this is also subject to a minimum 2 night pre booking.
Also check the UK cover includes cancellation/curtailment following car breakdown/accident and not just from medical/health issues. Breakdown cancellation may require the vehicle to have been serviced by a "recognised" dealer.
Varying options of maximum number of days per trip are available under many policies.
You also need to know the correct area of travel - such as Manchester, Stockport etc

I always use Caravan Club Red Pennant but not the combined policy. Look at Personal and Motoring as 2 single policies.

Red Pennant holiday insurance (annual and single trip) appears to have an exclusion making this unsuitable for the UK camping (or hotel) trips -
"This policy is not valid for trips taken solely within the United Kingdom unless your home is in the Republic of Ireland nor for trips in the Republic of Ireland unless your home is situated in the United Kingdom"

But that's breakdown cover for the car and caravan insurance.
Not cancellation or curtailment cover to reimburse lost deposits and booking fees for sites/hotels in the UK in the event of accident/breakdown or illness/death

But that still doesn't cover the cancellation/curtailment from illness/death element of the risk.
Not forgetting this cover usually also extends to non travelling family members too.
Nor cancellation/curtailment due to an accident.
