Is this tyre legal?
Daft question sorry
It has plenty of tread at around 5mm, but worn on the outside as you can see. All three other wheels have roughly the same tread and slightly less wear on the outside

It's on the list to be replaced, but waiting till next month as skint as a skint thing!Iggy/Ieuan

Yes, fully legal. Just. But tracking needs sorting asap. ISTR it needs 1.6mm tread across 75% of tread and visible tread (which there is just) on the rest.

My fronts were both like that, I put them on the back to get some more months out of the tyres. The backs went on the front. It has caused a nasty vibration at 60MPH.

I'm currently sorting out getting the AF ARB overhaul kit and getting that fitted followed by 4 new tires and a 4 wheel alignment so i'm hoping this will solve my problem.

I don't think that tyre is legal.
The minimum is 1.6 mm across 75% of the width. Measuring the width across the enlarged image I don't think it is legal and I certainly wouldn't want to argue the toss in an accident situation.

Iggy, is that an 18"er? I've got 2 new ATRs to put on rims before Ice Fest and have a virtually new 18" Wrangler coming off one of the rims. Hopeing to get it done before IF, if I do get it done can bring it up with me and it's yours foc if you want it. Only down side is the tyre is over 10 years just under 12 years old and looks like it was an underslung spare for it's life but I can't verify that. Wee run to Buxton should get it swapped over.

I agree with Admirable, and would add that the tyre has to have 1.6mm min over the CENTRE three quarters of the width not just three quarters

Its legal.
The min is as stated, 1.6mm for central 75% of width and entire circumference.

Low pressure and agresive cornering dosn't help on the front, neither does worn bushes, track rod ends or tracking/Alignment.
http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/what-to-expect/ is a good start It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
