The option to opt in, or out, of some sub forums.

Some Forums offer the ability to opt in and out of certain sections of the site, thus removing or retaining them in an individual user's own view. This stops their "New Posts" section being cluttered up with stuff that that user knows will be of no interest to them.

For instance, English speaking users might not wish to receive notifications on threads in Spanish, French or Dutch; D3 and D4 drivers might not want to be frequently notified of updates on discussions on alternative cars that might be more appropriate being discussed on their own specialist sites.

I've seen this work well elsewhere before, perhaps it could work well here too?

Just don't click on them?

I think its a bit like 'Points of View', if you find something on the TV distasteful then turn it off. Don't bloody watch it, then spend time contacting the BBC to complain about it!

That's not the point. This would provide the option for each user to get feeds on only the information that they want. Why have to filter through it every time you open the site, when each user would then only have to do it once?

This option is now pretty common across a lot of digital media.

This and other forums I use, click on new posts, read what catches your eye and ignore the rest, quick simple and works well.

I just hadn't found it before (I'd been looking in the wrong place all along Embarassed ). It's certainly taken a lot of irrelevant (to me) background noise out of my "New posts" search! Thumbs Up

Looking at some of the replies that I'd previously had, it would seem that quite a few people might not have been aware of it either.

Adding users to a personalised 'ignore' list is another useful feature available on other fora.
