Take it apart, clean it out, grease all the contact points up and adjust it .

If its screaming, chances are the lever on the back of the handbrake shoes will be seized, and require free'd off, or replaced.
May also need diagnostic equipment to wind the cables out fully also My D3 Build Thread

Hi
Thanks guys for replying I have a faultmate so the diagnostic bit is straight forward enough, I was just worried that the electronic box was as you can here like a ratcheting/grating noise and it sounds like its coming from the passenger side.
I used your guide the last time bodsy as I had never done one before so it was a great help .
Its only doing it intermitently but its bloody loud.
Ive got a manual 2005 HSE so will just leave it in gear so I dont have to use it for now, however it did flash up a parking brake fault tonight so I released it turned the car off and on again and the fault cleared so it must be in the early stages
thanks

Hi Disco Mikey
Do you think the bit is better replaced or would it just be okay to free it and grease it or am I just buying some time and it will give me grief later on, if so would it be better getting new parts
cheers

If its a manual you have and it comes on automatically when you take key out pull the square fuse number 8 in the under bonnet fuse box till you can get it fixed

I had the same problem...don' t use it until you've serviced it.....
Follow Bodsy's bible snd you'll have both sides done in about 4-5 hours, make sure you strip everything and free off all moving parts, the hardest part is refitting the long springs, but persevere, once done it'll give you a good sense of achievment If it ain't broke... Take it apart anyway, how else you gonna find out how it works

Hi Guys
first of all thanks for your help and why oh why dis LR decide to make such a complcated bloody handbrake for this car, Ive been at it for most of the afternoon and I know my way around cars.
I have completey stripped both sides to find these havnt been looked at at all by the main dealer and as said the hand brake arms were siezed and so were the little allen key bolts, however all has been freed off and I still have the screeching EPB and I followed Bodsys brake bible to the letter.
I dont understand that its only been doing it for 2 days and I suppose it now needs the actuator part and cables as the is still screaming I take it I have just been unlucky, the car is a 2005 with 79,000
on it.
I f I need to get an actuator wheres the best place to get one as Im in the trade does anyone other than LR make this part
cheers

They are available aftermarket-ish. They are available from your local Britpart dealer. Genuine LR part, in a Land Rover box, with LR stickers on said box, juts a bit cheaper My D3 Build Thread

Hi All
See after cleaning and unseizing the rear handbrake arms on the back of the shoes do you need to reset the system with the diagnostics or should it just reset its self.
As I have a multi vehicle faultmate would this reset possibly recalibrate the EPB actuator as I didnt get time to do this
cheers

Does it sound like this?
If its only a constant screech, then its either needing adjusted, levers on H/B shoes are seized, or possibly a faulty module
Only really need the diagnostics to put the EPB module into Mount position to fit the shoes, and to re-latch again My D3 Build Thread
