Front lower suspension arms! |
|
Me again....I've got a horrible squeak coming from my lower suspension arm on the passenger side! Can I get away with just replacing the one arm or do I need to do both sides! The reason I ask is the other side is solid and in good condition! Any help appreciated!

How do you know it's the arm? - You could just change the bushes, assuming it is the bushes at fault. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

It has to be the bush as the arm is not that old! I was led to believe the bushes where a pain to change and it was easier to do the whole arm? Thanks for replying.

1/2 hour job to replace a bush once the arm is off, no special tools need just a good big hammer and punch, the arms should come off easily if they have been replaced recently. I would spray the bush with neat washing up liquid first and see it it stops the squeak, if it dosn't that isn't where it's coming from. My guess if it is coming from the bush it has been assembled wrong. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks for the reply, it's 100% that bush I was hanging off it to day! There is movement but nothing that I would say is not normal but the creak is horrendous! I shall buy the bush and crack on. Thanks

Having now done all four corners because of bush failure. It is far easier, if a little more expensive, to replace the whole arm. 9 out of 10 times you need to grind the bolts out anyway which are rusted solid into the bush race. Just use new arms that come with new bushes. Makes a pig of a job a little better.
