Interesting New EGR Valve Fault
Having just replaced my fourth EGR valve this latest one is showing an interesting fault!
No wonder it had lost all power!!
Not sure if you can see in the photo but the head of the valve has broken off!
It looks in the new one they are friction welded on? Maybe someone left it on too long!
So annoyed have lost another Saturday changing this second one from the original supplier! This one is going back for a refund as well!
Wouldn't mind but they were not cheapo copies, but behave bought the replacement for this one from another supplier!
Anyone else ever had this?

Thanks guys. Below are some photos of my engine, hope they help to see if they are blanked or not. Geoff what are stainless shims and where can I get them from, I always assumed as mine is a 2007 (56 plate) that I need a patch after blanking?
D3cas sorry to hijack your thread

It appears standard (without removing any parts)
The smaller silver pipes (with mesh over them) coming out either side are the EGR pipes

Thanks peter k.
So it's not blanked out then?
Where can I get these blanking plates that don't need me to do a software patch?
Thanks for the info.Discovery 3 HSE 2007

due to the age of your car (a 2007) you will need a software patch.
or you could fit some blanks and see what happens.

No worries Azzybee. I have always stayed away from the blanking option due to the need to have extra software patches to fool the ecu - when they work they are OK and the control system on the D3 is flaky enough without making it worse - but that's just my opinion of course!
Had a good run today and now all running well again....... Until next time anyway ☺️Sanity is just a form of madness favoured by the masses

my above comment was in reply to pete k saying take a couple of pictures , if shims are used all the pipe work goes back on and you can't tell if its been done
either way u will need a software patch

Thanks Geoff.
Just paid for my patch at bell autos and purchased my blanking kit.
D3cass, I have done a lot of research and come across too many positive remarks about blanking the egr valves and applying the patch. A lot of good reviews from people in the know shall I say and that's what has made me decide to get it done. Makes sense really blanking it but each to their own and hopefully you don't suffer more issues with yours.Discovery 3 HSE 2007

I've got my kit and my patch. Will be blanking over the weekend hopefully.
Haven't found a thread with photos yet. The two pairs of plates I got one has a double or big on each of them (the pair). Do these ones go at the top and the flat plate go at the bottom or vide vwraa?
Has anyone done a video of this job?
I don't mind filming it if it helps.Discovery 3 HSE 2007
