D4 gone
Well that's all my discoverys gone my d4 landmark sold yesterday and gone, waiting for the evoque coupe to replace it...actually looking forward to that, don't like the 5 door, but the coupe is a very cool city 4x4 and surprisingly capable and can get into car parks!
But also sold my other disco, which means for the first time in 18 years I don't own a discovery!Mike

Are you complaining or bragging? - the Evoke is actually wider than a Discovery! It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks
I'm actually looking forward to it, yes it's smaller than the d4 and can't tow as much, but it's a cool and capable little 4x4. Small boot is probably the biggest...I am regretting not specing cooled seats though... but app based control of the car and climate is cool.
One things for sure, currently there was no way I was going to have a d5, I was tempted to go back to a rrs, but it's too much and too much a symbol...the disco sport is lower spec and doesn't hold its value, plus I couldn't really go there!
Anyway it's all done...Interesting to see if I'll ever be back in a disco, seems a shame, but I'll hang around just in case!!!

I don't understand
Later on today, I shall be parking the D4 at the gym car park, then at Sainsbury's car park and possibly at the multi-tory car park in Plymouth city centre. The length and the height aren't a problem and the width (mercifully less than the Evoque - thank you M3DPO) is livable with because it has nice short doors; I've recently owned a wide car, with very long doors before (Mk2 Ford Focus RS - a car with average, rather than atrocious visibility), it was a nightmare to get in and out of in tight car parking spaces. It was also a pain the "arm" because you couldn't see the front corners and the high bonnet would completely obscure the view ahead when clearing car park "up" ramps
I hope it works out well for you, really I do, but also look forward to seeing you in another six months (possibly four)!

Ps - have experience of both Ewok and DS - I prefer the DS every time - get over your badge snobbery - it's still a LR
Could be worse - look at what I'm driving now

Oh and on depreciation - I lost £3.5k in 9 months on MY16 DS HSE as opposed to £19.5k in 2 years on MY13 RRS Black Edition - both from new (after discount or would of been another £2.5k and £6k respectively) but I agree on RRS image Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

They are great fun to drive, I had a Dynamic, pre facelift, as a lone car with dynamic setting an absolute blast on country roads.
Enjoy it
This was my one entry level Pure, less than £30k oh those were the days. Waited a year to get it, the hype around the car was amazing, mine arrived a couple of months after launch, the looks I got and people letting me in and out of junctions, park it in a car park and come out to find people all around it, crazy times. It's a shame new LRs don't attract that same hype.

This year, in addition to having the D4 and Defender, ive had an 2 evoques 3 and 5 door and 2 DS.
Build quality its the DS, D4 being the worse.
The Evoques are definitely smaller all round than the D4. Many many many multi-story car parks the D4 and the RRS's couldnt get in the Evoque can i would need to check the width, on the drive im sure it was less, but length and height is less.
I do give you that ive gone for a 3 door - so the doors are wide, its a bit of a pain i know
The DS spec wise is poor, quality is less and build quality - well there are masses of issues with the DS at the moment. They also devalue faster than the Evoque too so my evoque is a higher spec massively than the DS and yet less! I almost went for a DS - or new freelander.
The D4 depreciation would have been really bad this year (im fortunate it isnt a deal for me). The last 2 D4's have been the worst performing LR's of the last 7. Although, the RRS are now bad because LR are churning them out - do you remember the 4 - 6 month waiting lists for sports, now its weeks.
If its any consolation, ive bought a new hair drier and scissors just incase i need to change career
I certainly wont be back in 4 months, changes are about every 12 months, unless we get another one mid year - so it would, at best be a D5 (as they are all new) - but i doubt that...more likely an F-Pace next.
The biggest problem with all of them is, even the amount i pay, they are just too much.Mike

Sis in Law has the Evoke dynamic. It's unbelievable round the corners when dynamic turned on. It shouldn't be able to go round bends that quick
