My detachable Tow Bar stolen
Wen to the NEC Camping and Caravan Show today and I noticed on returning to my car that someone has stolen my detachable towbar. Its not worth me going through insurance but I am going to be about £550 out of pocket.
The question I want to ask is that do I get another detachable towbar or should I get a fixed towbar?
Please let me know your thoughts

Buy a second hand one (hopefully not yours!) for £100-£150, and take it off when you're not using it. If you can detach it, anyone can.
If taking it on and off is frequent enough to be a PITA, then get a fixed one D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

How come its so easy for thieves to steel detachable tow bar?
Spate of tow bar thefts at the moment. Is it wrong to think fingers in a vice an adequate punishment?Paul.

How many years has this been talked about on the forum and how many of us genuinely find ourselves with a spot of unexpected towing whilst away from home?
Mine lives in a canvas bag in the garage.
Unfortunately we live in times where thieves go to the effort of nicking catalytic converters, so a detachable tow bar is just easy pickings.

Hope you've got a good lock and security cameras on you garage Robbie now everyone knows where you keep it
I have a fixed tow bar, I have given up buying chrome style ball cover caps I have had so many stolen, two have gone from the same car park, thing is they only cost £1.50 each. standard black plastic last forever. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

My suspicious mind would say where do all the refurbed ones off of ebay come from?
Lady down the road from me had her D4 one nicked end of last year, i told here they will be back for the wheel next so she bought one of the protector plates.
