Fuel Burning Heater
I was really pleased how easy it was to fit an oval timer to the webasto fbh. Not that cold down here in Essex but I figured it would be good for the engine on cold starts and for me too. So I did an experiment and was a bit disappointed with the result. Maybe I'm missing the point
Day 1 - FBH runs for 20 minutes and finishes as I jump in for the run to work 4 degrees C on the dash. After 2.5 miles the oil temp on the dash reached the bottom marker arrow (moving past the blue marker) - as per image.
Day 2 - No FBH also 4 degrees on the dash. After 2.5 miles the oil temp reaches exactly the same spot. So no difference.
I know the heater heats the coolant and not the oil but I figured it was supposed to get the engine up to temp more quickly. Doesn't seem to - Again am I missing the point and/or being thick?
Would it make a bigger difference if it was sub zero?

The dash temp gauge isn't real so completely useless for comparisons.
Oh and yes, the 5kw of heat does make a difference.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Where are you getting the oil temp measurement from?
The dash shows the 'coolant' temperature.
Is your FBH working okay?
I thought that after I'd typed it, yes it's the coolant temp I'm referring to, ignore oil temp reference. The fbh fires up and gets hot, so I'm assuming it's doing the business.
