Hi,
I'm getting the 3 Amigos of HDC fault, Transmission Fault, Parking Brake Fault... randomly. After a few retries and giving it time to think about its behaviour, it resolves itself. SWMBO however isn't finding it funny when it leaves her stranded.
I've taken it to 2 different landy specialists and neither found the fault (as it was working fine at the time).
I've replaced the battery (it was showing as weak when under load) and stuck in some Cataclean to see if that magically fixes the problem but it hasn't.
I've bought an IIDTool BT to try catch the issue. The only errors it's showing is the EGR Valves (blanked), Aux Heater- B1D29-93 and Fuel Pressure Sensor - P0191-24 - but then I'm a complete noob with this tool and don't know what else I should do with it.
Landy specialist #2 said he noticed the EGR valves are still on the vehicle but are disconnected. He thought this was strange as he normally removes them completely. The blanking was done at a 'reputable' dealer and since it was done I've noticed an improvement and it fixed the engine management light warning.
I'm assuming even if the aux heater is goosed, it wouldn't cause the symptoms I'm getting?
The Fuel Pressure Sensor error however is the only code that seems to register again after clearing and after a 3 Amigos strop.
I'm thinking I should replace the Brake Light Switch and bulbs to rule them out. I tried to check the Switch based on http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic129382.html and I also get the same result in IIDTool when I lightly press the brake pedal, with the switch showing Off but the Lamp and Solenoid showing On.
The only other clue I have is when towing, after some 50 miles or so and under slightly harder acceleration, I noticed a judder. I'm thinking this needs a transmission flush and some Dr Tranny but that's the first and only time I've noticed the judder and right now is the least of my worries.
The wife wants to trade it in for a BMW X5 - please help me save my Disco.

Hi,
Ok so I managed to catch the error codes during a 3 Amigo strop and having the IIDTool to hand.
The 2 extra fault codes are:
Parking Brake
U0100-87 (EB) Lost communication with engine control module/powertrain control module 'A' - Bus signal/message failure - missing a message
Vehicle Dynamic
U0401-68 (2B) Invalid data received from engine control module/powertrain control module - Algorithm based failure - event information
After turning it off/on again the errors went away and the car was fine again.
Am I looking at some nightmare wiring issue?

I wouldn't worry about the codes prefixed with a 'u' as they are generally communication errors. I would be looking at the p0191 fuel pressure sensor, possible issue with high pressure fuel pump?
Hopefully someone will be along shortly that will have more idea than me. Stu

A week on and so far so good, no faults showing.
I replaced the Brake Light Switch but it was already a FoMoCo one so probably not the issue. Replacement part from Rimmer Bros was a Jaguar branded unit and cost £15
I also replaced the brake light bubs. One had a slight black tinge to it so maybe was an issue.
Using the IID Tool I primed the Aux Heater which brought it back to life but it faulted again soon after. Worked once, enough to scare the wife as she thought the car was about to set on fire due to the smoke coming from the front!
I'm not convinced I've got to the bottom of this but at least it's behaving itself for now.
