Equipping Disco 3 for overlanding
Hi all,
New member here
Not actual Disco 3 owner (wouldn't swap my Defender for nothing) but I'm currently preparing my parents Disco 3 for some overlanding trips to Eastern Europe and Morocco.
I have some questions about it:
A) Underbody protection. I can get great deals on a Terrafirma Sump guard + gearbox guard or, second option, a Mantec guard. Which option is the best? Is the gearbox guard a must? Mind that I'll be using a Terrafirma winch mount
B) Lifting the car. Britpart lift rods are widely available, but how much is the actual lift? Many Johnson Rods users, but do they have a EU dealer?
Thanks in advance!

Hi again,
Searched more and we'll go with the Britpart rods.
The underbody question is still on

I took my D3 to Morrocco when it was 6 months old. I fitted some sensible tyres and a sump plate and some sills from Uncle Ray.
Nothing else. I didn't play with anything else. No need. We did the usual, URG CHEBBI, higher/lower Atlas and then a gentle run through the Sahara.
As long as they are sensible then even the prep I did could be considered to much.HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE
They shall not grow old as those of us left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condem. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

In a similar vein to MarkW's comment, I went with a group in 2010 and we did a lot off road ...you won't need much more than decent tyres and a sump guard.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
