Possible remap issues?Un-reasonable to ask for Map settings
Hi As most of you prob know i have been having issues regarding ESF/limp mode.
Now it may be a coincidence but it all started a day or so AFTER i had a remap done.I have been slowly going through possible faults/fixes but still have issue, although i am waiting for new intercooler hoses to arrive and will probably change intercooler at same time.I have fitted new fuel filter and air filter, lubricated actuator arm etc.
So back to the point,i have contacted the company that did the map,i wont name them at this stage,he has said quite bluntly that 'its not the map' but im not 100% sure and as part of my elimination process have asked if its possible for him to reset back to standard to allow me to test without map on and see what the results are and if its still going into limp mode then stick the map back on.Does this seem unreasonable to anyone?I would have thought that as a 'professional' company that they would comply without hesitation, surely if their map is at fault they would want to know, and besides once the actual 'file' has been downloaded its simply a case of uploading to ecu which when i watched him originally took just a minute or so financially its not going to cost them?
I have asked if he could also provide the settings regarding boost etc that the map applied, this should be possible surely?
Has anyone else had experience of a remap causing ESF symptoms?
Regards

No it was not....local company...beginning to think i had of used a forum member though!
When I do remap, I always tell the customer that if it ever gets wiped then call me and I will reload it for them, no hardship, as you have the file for backup anyway.
As for the settings did you not ask before having it done?..
Not knowing who did it and what was done, but I'd think that unless you are giving it the berries all the time,it's unlikely that the remap is over boosting , it could however be a fueling issue ?
Was the fuel pump calibrated post map being added?
-excess fuel, is it smokey?
-under fueling, will it pull and accelerate ?
Critically what ECU fault codes are you getting when in limp mode, that'll help point to the issue, without them you are stabbing in the dark really Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Funny you should mention fuel beanie as i had a check of low pressure fuel system today...gauge showed just under 0.3 bar whilst running, which to me seemed very low for a healthy pump?the amps drawn whilst running were 4.55A again i feel that is low although i understand they can run as low as 4amps and still be ok?
Wondering if 'one' of the contributors to my issues could be the lpfp.Although i wasnt quite happy with the connection to the schrader valve as due to it being under the firewall on my car i couldnt get it connected without a 'kink' forming in the hose to gauge so wonder if this may be restricting the reading somewhat.Have ordered a 90 degree adapter and will re-test before i go pulling the tank out!
Flack that sounds like great customer service,Pity your not closer to me!and yes i guess i was a bit naive when it came to remap, guess i got a bit over excited with my new car and just said 'do it' without questioning

Also i have noticed that it doesnt really want to 'get going' maybe its a bit of me not wanting to push to avoid limp mode but def doesnt seem right...hard to pin point what exactly.
No excess smoke that i can see, although i did see a bit as my wife drove off the other day,but nothing i would call serious considering it was a cold start.
Not been in a position to collect code when in limp mode but will try later when i collect wife from work...no codes stored after restart
Would it be worth running a datalog? i have scanxl by palmer engineering loaded on laptop that im using.

Just taken it for a spin, got it to limp mode (inevitable!) and tried to pull fault codes but none were stored is it my diagnostic equipment or is it possible that there are not any stored ?

Depends what diagnostic equipment you're using, cheap stuff won't communicate with the D3.
You need an IID Tool. Mods:

generic elm327 cable (evilbay ) and scanxl softaware, which in fairness has read all codes on my other vehicles.
It does also seem to connect to the D3 with no issues, reads live values etc, recognizes engine and transmission ecu's so thought it would be able to read codes?
The ELM will read the ECU's & codes that Land Rover have to have visible by law.
It is also possible that the map is doing an automatic wipe of the codes..............
When I had issues with mine going into limp mode, I had a BAS map on and Pete adjusted the map several times to try and see if it was the issue - it wasn't, it turned out to be HP fuel pump that was changed under warranty - but not before they changed EGR valves, pressure control valves and a few other things - despite being told it was HP pump!Mark.

Why, are you that desperate to diagnose this issue?
Your ELM won't tell you anything on the D3. Mods:

Garmin Nuvi + D4 Surround + Reversing Camera.
D4 Steering Wheel.
