A or B? Pick one for my steering wobble when braking!

Well, picked the car up on the 30th March and immediately drove it to the French Alps (very brave I know)!!

No issues at all, decent mpg for 1600 miles at 90 and I am pleased Thumbs Up

However, on the return I started to notice a steering wheel shake when braking, worst at 70 > 30. I do not feel anything through the pedal.

Now, the discs are indeed old, advisory on the MOT that "Front brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (3.5.1i) Rear brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (3.5.1i)"

Also on the MOT advisory, is "Play in steering rack inner joint (s)"

What do you think the wobble is, discs or rack joints?

(And what do I need to buy if its the rack innerjoint?

Thanks all

Mine was a seized caliper. Have you checked the disc temperatures?

I have checked yes. All seem to be the same temp, no excessive heat from any wheel and no blue tinge on the discs which I have seen before on other cars. Thumbs Up

It might be C: Front Lower arm bushes.

That's what my wobble under braking was. Mine was worst around 50mph.

Another option!

Did you DIY it? If so, can a fat fingered buffoon like myself do it Shocked

I have certainly had C & D cause wobbles. A poor quality lower balljoint one time and knackered TREs the next. On the back, a worn rear toe rod caused wobbles another time. They are all DIYable but all need full 4WA following...

Of course, inner steering joints or C or D should mean that, when appropriately jacked up one or both front wheel will have a pronounced wobble when you grip them at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock and try to identify any play. The worn brake discs would not have introduced any play.
