Anyone know this car? Possible purchase advice

Hello all,

New on here. Currently looking at changing my 06 BMW E61 520D to something a little more suited to towing, as I'm now frequently carting a race car around on a trailer.

Thoughts are pretty much either on a D3 or a post 07 3.0 VW Touareg. Budget is around the £7.5k mark max really.

Quite happy to get busy with spanners so general maintenance isn't really a worry, so I'm quite happy with a higher mileage car.

My brother in law knows the trader that is selling this:

He's going to try and find out a bit more detail for me on the car. It's just got a fresh MOT, but there are a few advisories according to MOT Check (5 total, 2 of which associated with worn seat belt stalks) main 3 as follows:
Offside Brake pipe slightly corroded rear of front to rear (3.6.B.2c)
Nearside Play in steering rack inner joint(s) ()
Offside Front Inner Front constant velocity joint gaiter deteriorated, but preventing the ingress of dirt (2.5.C.1a)

Any advice welcome, or if anyone knows the car that would be greatly appreciated (it's currently in Hove)!

Thank you,

Keith

Thanks.

That was my initial thought as well.

Looks to be on decent tread scorpions as well. Pleasing to see for an 160k car.

Fingers crossed it has a bunch of history with it and some recent big service items done.

We'll split the difference. Rear left says Scorpion I think! Did think the front right said Goodyear but couldn't fully make it out!

Either way, good brand tyres Smile

Will also need to be checked if it has the upgraded oil pump casing.

You'll need to remove the timing belt cover. If you check out any of the posts regarding 'oil pump' you'll see photos of the two types. Basically the problem is the casting of the oil pump where the timing belt tensioner bolts on, it needs to be substantially thicker than on the problem ones. Is there any paperwork or invoices relating to your Disco?
