Fitted some KC LED Spotlights
Decided on these KC 4" LZR LED Spotlights as I wanted something understated and being all black casings they suit my Tonga and Black theme.
I bought them from the States as the UK supplier's price is horrendous - cost me less than half their advertised price including the import and shipping charges
I had to fabricate some brackets first. Not wanting to drill or interfere with the grill or bumper I went a similar route to Nasher's brackets
There is enough gap between the bottom of grill and top of bumper to allow a 5-6mm bracket to protrude through without rubbing on any paint.
I cut the top off some box section tube to give me a radius edge and made a curved flange to hide the lamp securing bolt. As the brackets protrudes through grill gap it has to step up to allow one to get a nut on and to bring the lamps up to the desired height. Cardboard templates (side profile) helps greatly here as I went for the lightforce type security nuts, the tool for them is deep and you need to be able to get to the nut! I cut my socket tool down and added some "flats" for spanner to allow for my desired height.
Added some strengthening plate to underside of channel, and the rest of bracket (hidden under grill trim)
is determined on mounting posisitions.
Bracket mounting to use 2 self-tappers and a 8mm bolt as below:
Trimmed plastic up-stand to allow bracket to sit flush - bumper top surface curves downwards beyond self-tapper fixing so no paint rubbing here. I added some 3M Clear stone guard tape under first part of bracket in case of any vibration. (Turns out brackets are very rigid and don't vibrate).
Powdered coated Satin Black and good to go!
Trimmed a little plastic on chassis cover to allow brackets to exit..
All fits good and allows grill removal without removing spotlights.
Testing...
I used the KC loom supplied, but had to modify slightly so I could use the LR Aux spotlight switch and also add a relay for main beam triggering.
They are only 24watts giving 2400 Lumens, very bright giving a nice white light over the halogen yellow main beam.
Pleased with look, understated with a rugged look to lamp especially with the KC cover protectors
Couple of pics showing security nuts used..
Large ones are Lightforce type M12 and smaller ones Kinmar M8. Silver soldered one M8 to M8 threaded bar to make a bolt. Means having 2 Kinmar sockets at £25 each, but at least deters some scrotes!

Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.
Good job fella. They look very good. Not too big either, I don't like big cibi oscar type lights on the front but they look small and neat The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

I'm glad it helped. Can't beat a nice warm steering wheel in the mornings.
I second that, but unfortunately the heated seat burn my bum then packed up Next job when I return from N500 The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
