A flashing light means there is a fault.
If you are hearing no beeping (or error tone) when selecting reverse, then you probably need to replace the speaker at the rear. There could be other faults though.

This post is fortuitous and at the risk of a hijack.
My parking sensor alarms and warns of the front parking aid inactive. I got the fault read and it gave the front inner offside sensor at fault. Just had the bumper off and sure enough worn cable and corroded wires. Repaired the green and brown cables but the thing still alarms. Does the fault have to be cleared from ECU before it works properly or is the sensor itself likely to be dead now? All harness and sensors look ok otherwise. Dave

Speaker is inside the car. I'll nick someone's pic later.
It would be wise to get the codes read as when you have fixed the speaker the noise se could be more annoying!
Sky. Fault doesn't the need clearing.
