D3 - bonkers costs

So... a Sydney LR specialist has just stated...

for a transmission flush and full service? $2k verbal $2k

Then add on top a transmission oil cooler... $1100 verbal $650

And suspension air compressor... $2250... - not quoted

Rear Discs and pads - $735. - not quoted

Not happy around the Trans cooler ... but what should the cost be, especially the last two...

I often use ebay as a bench mark for prices on most things.
Discs and pads per axle set are well under a 100 gbp, cheaper stuff is also available.
Was it just new discs pads or was it new handbrake shoes/lube etc.

I think compressor is circa 4/500gbp, again check ebay etc, just looked on ebay the most expensive one on there is 970 Aus dollars which leaves the guy 1280 dollars to fit it!
Im not saying thats taking the Censored , but bloody hell!

Trans flush : is it a double drain or forced out from the cooler hose ? Buy the oil yourself and do a double . Forget the filter . What's wrong with the cooler ? Air comp : sure it isn't just the gel-can blocked up with damp gel ? They're a couple of hundred fitted ( mine was ) plus same for labour .
Rear discs and pads are on the money . The pads are an unusual size , and usually OEM LR fitted .

Don't waste the hard earned on paying the Aussie Land rover Tax, get everything from the UK

Brexit is your friend, the Aussie has gained 20% more buying power, 1 pound= $Au 1.62, plus you don't pay VAT. (keep your order under $Au 1000 and avoid GST as well)

I use Island 4x4 in Kent, they have an excellent online store, parts arrive within 5-10 business days to TAS.

Island 4x4 price: new (Dunlop) compressor is $Au484, postage most likely $100, that's easily 25% of your quote. They are pretty simple to install, there is a good guide on the forum

Brakes rotors and pads are a piece of cake to do your self, look for Bodsies brake bible.
allow an hour for each side. I purchased my last set of pads and rotor on Ebay $300 ish.

With regards the transmission oil cooler you can pick one for less than £100 (about 160 $Au?) and they're not that hard to fit yourself - esepcially if you're doing a double drain while you're there.
 I see no ships........
