Well after 1 D3 and 4 D4s I'm finally leaving the fold (for the minute). No matter how hard I tried the D5 just isn't for me, McGovern and the gang really need a long think in the design department I think as producing the same car over and over will eventually loose more customers than they gain (my opinion and I know many will disagree).
Gone over to the dark side and bought a Mercedes Benz E-class estate, Similar size inside apart from the height, but the tech leaves Land Rover far behind I'm afraid, especially at the price point for the car, it's got more safety tech and toys than a new FFRR, never mind the D5 and is already averaging over 45mpg!.
I've loved my time with LR but the new designs leave me cold, but fingers crossed for the new defender, I may be back or even get a late D4 as a second car when the prices fall, which they will as the cars age.
I'm going to keep lurking as I hope to be back. In the meantime lots of bits for sale in the relevant section of the forum 2018 D5 3.0 HSE Lux

That's a nice looking car. I used to think of MB as being mind bogglingly expensive but, compared to modern LR prices, they are great VFM!
It's a choice that McGovern is forcing on a lot of LR's customer base and it's interesting to see the decent alternatives that people are finding....

LR are getting bad, but they've still a long way to go to catch Audi in the lack of design stakes! They take an A4 Avant, and either let air out or pump it in depending upon whether you want smaller (all the way to the A1 or the Q7).
As for the tech, just about every manufacturer makes JLR look poor these days.
I must admit to always having liked the E-Class Merc, and when head rules the heart................
Enjoy!

Is it really OLED? Is the quality better than the screen that LR use?

Looks good Daz and I must admit I am looking at a future with no Discovery in it. I tried hard to like the D5 and even had the advantage of an extended test ahead of the official launch but it is a rather average SUV that is big on compromise and short on value.
Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
The screeen appears better than the new Land Rover one to my eyes but I could be wrong, it is incredibly clear, think giant iPad with Retina display. The new adaptive LED lights are very impressive and the boot is slightly bigger in floor area than my D4 but without the height obviously!. I went for an ex demo car that was registered just before the new tax changes so only £30 a year .2018 D5 3.0 HSE Lux

That sounds impressive! I liked the idea of the instruments on the FFRR, but the quality was inline with the display on a £299 laptop. A Retina like display would make all the difference

Very Nice you should be proud you managed to break away. Im in similar situation, don't like the D5 but have ordered one as SWMBO says we can keep the D4 as a failsafe
Seriously considered a GLS the other month really liked the Mercedes technology. Was let down by the dealer seemingly not wanting to sell me one.

Was considering an E Class Estate myself , not current model but felt for use as family it was no good in the rear seats. There is 5 of us, my older boys are 6ft so space was just too tight. What I really wanted though but space again was a premium was a CLS shooting brake, they just look lovely in my eyes !
Understand the issue if you need 3 across, it is definitely more a 2 adult + child in the rear, although looking at the D5 it appeared very similar and not the true 3 abrest that we all know and love in the D3/4.2018 D5 3.0 HSE Lux
