Oil level
I thought I would check my oil level but lift the bonnet to find no dip stick check the hand book and go through menu to find level this , is it low or not available ? And why on earth take away the dipstick

Its not available. You cannot measure the oil level just after having the ignition on, it needs time to settle. Try just before starting the car, just turn the ignition on (i.e. Turn key / press start but without pressing the brake) and then select the menu option. you'll then see the level.Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

You have to warm up the engine , switch off and leave 10 mins . There is however a short cut but can't remember the details ?

dare I ask how long have you had the D4
I often think about checking the oil level just After I have started it, too late by then wait for the next start up

I be had her a month and thought I would dip the oil level but couldn't find a dip stick lol time to read the owners book as I always checked the D3 every 2nd tank and she never used a drop but I will do some reading and familiarise my self with her

You can check it when it's cold, it will work, it's just the procedure calls for it after it's been warm.

Shortcut
Suggest you try on a cold and warm engine
Lift bonnet
Ignition on (press start button without foot on brake)
Select oil check on menu
Click cruise control cancel button twice quickly

I thought I had previously tried checking the oil when cold and it failed but I have just tried today and the oil level check worked when cold.
and the oil is currently states overfilled

Unfortunately yes, the car is level.
Good excuse to buy to oil extractor I've been looking at for ages
