shower cubicle used as storage
Hi Folks.
For the seasoned caravaners,
We don't use our shower in the van. However would like to use the space.
Would it hurt, damage the shower tray, to use one of these for our two/three week stints.
Maybe put some sort of cloth, carpet down first.

I don't see why not. We use ours to store soft bags containing various items. Never caused any damage. Just watch the weight and balance of the caravan when towing.

I would not leave it in when towing, just extra wardrobe space when pitched
Just wondering if, shower trays are upto the job of carrying the weight for two / three week periods.

Piece of ply or something underneath to spread the load evenly, should be fine.==================================

If the tray is up to carrying two people I don't see why not. What would you put in the storage unit anyway that could be that heavy? I carry two empty Aquaroll. Mine has aqua rolls and hover and a few other bits in there most of the time Discovery 3 se gone

Never used the shower in any of our vans over the years to be honest
Obviously that's cos we use parks and don't go to non amenitie parks

This is an issue that seems to divide people
My in laws never used theres but we use ours all the time
Why anyone wants to
Trudge across in the cold to some well used and often abused facility sharing other peoples hygiene habits

Morning shower x two adults + 3 grandkids
evening shower ............ Ditto............
=.......10 showers per day
all that cleaning, damp air, i don't think so.

Two showers a day! Friend of mine is a Dermatology Professor, as long as you practice good general hygiene then no one should shower or bath more than three or four times a week as over washing can lead to skin problems especially in children
I'm with Mark & Pelymya, in fact our attitude is why buy a loo and shower then rent another one, as long as the field is flat, quiet, has water, electricity and disposal facilities that's all we want.==================================

Ours are never used as showers and used to store all sorts of stuff instead line vacuum cleaner and mop and bucket etc. On site facilities used daily instead.
I don't like the idea of having to put on clothes to go to the ablution block and then get drenched under a fixed head shower and have to dry, reclothe, go somewhere else to undress and wash the bits the fixed head does not reach (I am not an acrobat!), dry again, clothe for the third time and head back to the 'van when I can do all that is needed in one operation - and whether I clothe at all is a seperate issue for later on.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. We use ours occasionally.
I have to admit, at Icefest this year it was very nice to have a warm shower when I woke up, with the blizzard raging outside, thinking of everyone else shivering in their sleeping bags, plucking up the courage to go and have an icy wash in the campsite washroom!
