Soooooo, wobble STILL not solved, what next? |
|
I still get slight wobble through the steering wheel when lightly braking,
In the following order, I have changed:
Discs and pads (decent ones from AF)
Drop links
ARB bushes
Inner and outer trackrods
Lower wishbones
And today new calipers, but the issue is still there. MUCH better, but still there
Could it be the new disc have been damaged by bad calipers so even though new calipers went on today the discs are already bad?
If not, ANY other suggestions will be greatly received.

Could it be one of the joints in the steering column has play ? I've read something about lower steering column problems but not sure what they are.
It's possible to damage a disc if it wasn't fitted properly or by a bad calliper but that's quite rare. You can check disc run out with a dial test indicator.
Have you checked or changed the front upper arms ? Jarrod

Not looked at the upper arms no. The lower didn't seem that bad actually, but changed them anyway because of this wobble.
Rear links haven't been looked at either, I assumed (no doubt wrongly) that as it's felt in the steering wheel it would be front end issues.
I also had an advisory for the rear discs at MOT but ignored them too for the same reason. Could rear discs make themselves felt in the steering wheel?
Thank you for the replies so far!

If it's a wobble through the steering wheel, it's the front end
There is a TSB to resolve brake wobbles on D4/RRS, worth having a look
FWIW, I had to use the modified discs to cure mine
However, don't discount a warped hub flange My D3 Build Thread

I doubt it, as the issue is exactly the same on this set of wheels and tyres and my winter set and they are brand new premium brand.
