When you are dead, you do not know you are dead. All of the pain is felt by others. The same thing happens when you are stupid.

Cool, my dad flew both Halifax and Lancaster (RAF Snaith and RAF Ludford Magna) but he also spent time at RAF Lossiemouth.

Another tenuous link. Lancaster NF920 was built at the Armstrong Whitworth plant, at Whitley near Coventry.

Now of course its the home and registered head office of Jaguar Land Rover.

The sign gives it away.

A bit of a hike to the aircraft, fair bit along boards, and this is the scene. Now it makes a lot more sense on the ground, the pics just seem to show chaos, but hopefully my interpretation is correct.

The nose of the aircraft is to the left, tail end to the right. She's correct way up so port wing towards the camera, starboard away.

This is looking from the nose backwards.

Section just in front of the tail gun turret

Bomb bay hard points for the payload, then one of the bomb bay doors, which look like they've been cut off after the crash.

Looking along the starboard wing, with the honking great bolts to hold wing & fuselage together. Also a burned out electrical something or other.

Looks like near the cockpit with an oxygen bottle sticking up out of the deck.

Also visible is possible flack damage.

And poss damage repaired from a previous raid.

More artwork just forward on the Easie Elsie name.

And this old girl drank nothing but the good stuff

Was really interesting to see her there after over 70 years, amazing what was identifiable as which part of the aircraft. What confused me at first was the size of the wreck, it was a lot smaller than I thought a Lancaster was.

This bit I couldn't figure out, right up by the nose area but can't match it with photos of the front of Lancs. Confused

And you know what aviation types are like with stickers, a "tribute" from the equivalent mud movers 70 years on. Thumbs Up

And a bit about the mission she was on here http://www.lancaster-archive.com/lanc_surv_nf920.htm

A pic of when she first crash landed.
