Steering column bulkhead grommet
Quick que strong guys I have now moved the various electrical boxes from w hat was the auxiliary battery box on my d4 , before I make the plunge is the steering grommet the favoured place to get extra wiring from the engine bay to the inside of the car ?
EDIT: Sorry, I misread your post as clutch cable grommet. Agree with below and don't use steering grommet.

No no NO!
Don't think about putting any wiring through the steering grommet. It will get caught up and can really be quite dangerous!
There is another grommet to the right of the steering grommet. Take that out and gently poke a hole through the inner insulation.
Then from under the drivers feet area you can remove the panel and see where it comes through. Make the hole a bit bigger and you can then use that.Bodsys Brake Bible

Thanks Bodsy I thought about that and wasn't happy with that route even though the grommet doesn't rotate when the shell is moved and as yet still not gone in here
Where is the other grommet ? In the old D3 looking from under bonnet it was to the far left but the D4 has a lot more wiring going on in that area even after I removed the interior trim still can't see it , is there another grommet on the D4 that I haven't seen yet ?

It's to the right of the steering as you look in the aux battery area back to the bulkhead. Tucked away but plenty of room, no wires going through it on a D4.Bodsys Brake Bible

That's good news, I need to run a 16mm2 cable to the bottom of the cubby box.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

I'm only fitting a a 12volt cigarette socket and a few usb sockets in the rear I have run some10mm square cable in the sill channel at the side off the offside seats plus also two small1mm cable to a rocker switch to isolate the spot lights as per my previous disco
Just putting a 45amp leasure battery to look after the sockets to run a small fridge
