"I would love to know who is the pony tailed wearing , Chardonnay drinking marketing w@nk@rs that decided on the new pricing on the D5, considering the GBP has deflated close to 20% since Brexit!!!"

more comments from the LRA FB site, obviously the 6 cylinder option wasn't announced at the time?
"Kill the defender, oh, hang on we need some off road cred, idiots."
"Nuh! Not working for me. The 2 litre motor is the last straw. Might have to wait for the 110 replacement but in no hurry to replace the Disco4 at present"
"Bring back the V6 diesel engine in land Rover in Australia"
"No 6 cyl diesel? Wtf?! Don't they listen to the public.
We said let us have smaller rims with more rubber, then they stuff it up by giving us 4 cylinders, might as well buy a bloody Prado, has a way bigger fuel rank too"

Mate, LR build for the main market, which is not for Aussie special requirements.

When the D3 was released, it was a game changer, it set the bench mark for the next generation of 4wd's, it left the old world thinking that a capable 4wd needed large ground clearances and axle articulation. It showed electronics was now superior to the old world thinking.
All the manufacturers basically had no choice but to follow LR.
In the lead up to the D5, LR teased the market with pioneering technology such as bonnet projection, Laser headlights, remote control driving, vehicle to vehicle communication to share vehicle setup and terrain conditions.
Now the D5 is released, none of this ground breaking technology appeared? they just made it more posh, more expensive and lighter to appeal to the climate change believers in Toorak and Eastern suburbs. (Read: Chelsea in the UK)
The only game changing feature appears to be the automated trailer reversing.
LRA are on the record that they are worried about traditional LR owners reactions, as 40% of LR sales are from returning customers.
I have seen one in the flesh and my first impression were, it was bigger and looked a little better than I was expecting, the inside plastic and trim looked cheap. I need to see one on the road to see if I can get over it's rear end.
I had to have the D3 when it was released, I just don't have the same feeling for the D5.

Fair comment really But, now that they've joined the mainstream herd, the LR X5 really is no more effeminate than a BMW Touran, an Audi "new" Discovery or a VW Q5, though I am beginning to struggle to tell them apart....2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!

Had a good look over that D5 the other day.it didn't impress me at all.Seems it is an around town vehicle with some off road ability. It has moved up a few rungs from the D4,appears to have been built to compete with Audi,BMW,volvo, and RRS.
I doubt there will be many accessories either, cargo barrier looks difficult to fit, particularly in the 7 seater, bull bar,who knows.
Definitely not a Discovery as we know them.
Looks f'n ugly as well, and the well documented dissapearence of the D4 tail gate set up,which was fantastic,is not good.
That 19" tyre size, not great here in Aus,we need 18".In fact the D5 19' tyre size is difficult to get.
So LR don't have a vehicle for my needs,thats after 4 discos,and a Deefer.Suppose i will keep the D4 a while longer.
Oh well life goes on,........There are other vehicles around.

It has more than some off road ability.
Cargo barrier ain't anymore awkward to fit than the D4, though I went for the cargo net.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green
